Hi! My name is Jessica, the face behind the lens of Jecca Lynn Photography! I think it is important to be as authentic as possible with my business because it is an extension of myself. So, if you are a potential client, follower, or friend, please allow me a moment to share a little about who I am.

I began digging into photography in 2013, after my daughter was born. As any nursing momma knows, you have to keep yourself occupied somehow during those late-night feedings. For me, that meant surfing photography blogs, articles, Facebook pages, Pinterest boards, etc. Basically, anything photography-related was fair game. I read and studied while nursing and during the day when baby and I were both awake (and happy!) I would practice taking photos. At the time, I just wanted to document the growth of my baby and *thought* that I might want to be a nature/wildlife photographer or even get into sports photography. However, the photographers that I ended up following the most specialized in newborns, toddlers, and families. I was also inspired by a few who were pioneering the documentary style of family photography. By my daughter's first birthday, I knew that I wanted to be a newborn photographer. Between her 2nd and 3rd birthdays, I completed a 365 photo-a-day project, during which I fell in love with documentary-style photography. So, there you have it. Now, I identify myself as a documentary-style photographer who also does posed newborn sessions.

I love using natural light as much as possible. I let it be a part of the story. Sometimes, however, a story unfolds indoors where there is not much light and it works best to use my trusty little bounce flash. In my cozy home studio, where I photograph newborns and baby's first year milestone sessions, I use a large strobe light for lovely consistent yet soft lighting.

Speaking of stories; I love telling them with my photos!! I am addicted! From the planning of a session; to shooting all the details, interactions, emotions; to editing the images in a timeless, beautiful style...everything about storytelling sessions pulls at my heart and feeds my soul!

Thank you for taking the time to read this little about me page! I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story (and hopefully documenting it through photos), too!
